Screens, Gaming Monitors and Getting More From Your Pickleball

The Samsung CJG5 is a curved gaming monitor, a product line known for its wide QHD panels and fast refresh rates at a comparatively modest price. A good screen at home has a surprisingly practical use for Bengaluru pickleball players: it makes reviewing match footage and studying technique far easier than squinting at a phone.

Why a bigger screen helps your game

Many players now record their doubles games from behind the baseline using a phone on a fence clip or small tripod. Watching that footage on a large display lets you spot details that are easy to miss in the moment:

  • Kitchen positioning – whether you and your partner move up to the non-volley line together or leave gaps down the middle.
  • Third-shot choices – how often your drops land softly in the kitchen versus floating up for an easy attack.
  • Paddle face and grip – whether a high-pressure exchange is breaking down because your paddle is too open or your grip is too tight.
  • Footwork – split steps before your opponent's contact and recovery after each shot.

Simple ways to use footage well

Keep clips short and focused. Pick one theme per session, such as dinking patience or serve depth, and watch a handful of rallies with that single question in mind. Pausing and replaying at slower speed is where a sharp, smooth display earns its keep, because motion is easier to read frame by frame.

Bring what you notice back to the court. If footage shows you hitting too many dinks into the net, spend the first part of your next session on controlled cross-court dinking before playing games. Our paddle guide can also help if you suspect your equipment, rather than your stroke, is part of the problem.

Balance screen time with court time

Video analysis is a supplement, not a replacement for playing. Sessions with a mix of partners, friendly league matches and drills will do more for your consistency than any amount of watching. Check our courts page for places to play around the city, and use what you learn on screen to make every rally count.
