Getting the most out of these Bengaluru spots
The places listed above fall into two rough groups. Some, like Cubbon Park, Lalbagh Botanical Garden and UB City, are central landmarks that work well as meeting points, warm-up walks or somewhere to unwind after a session. Others, such as the Koramangala, Indiranagar, Manyata Tech Park and Whitefield areas, are neighbourhoods where many of the city's players live and work, so they tend to be where people look for games close to home or the office.
Plan around traffic and weather
Bengaluru traffic can turn a short distance into a long drive, especially on weekday evenings along the Outer Ring Road and around Whitefield and Manyata. If you are travelling across the city for a game, allow extra time, or use the Namma Metro where a line runs near your destination. Early mornings are popular for outdoor play because temperatures are milder. During the monsoon months, from roughly June to September, sudden showers are common, so indoor courts become far more valuable and outdoor plans are best kept flexible.
Check access before you go
Rules on facilities vary widely. Public parks like Cubbon Park and Lalbagh have their own timings and restrictions on organised sport, and many clubs, tech park courts and residential facilities are open only to members, employees or residents. Before heading out, confirm with the venue directly whether casual players are allowed, whether courts must be booked ahead, and what footwear is required on their surface.
Pack for the city
- Carry plenty of water and electrolytes; even winter afternoons can be warm.
- Bring a spare ball suited to the surface, since indoor and outdoor balls differ.
- Keep a light towel and a cap for outdoor courts.
