Bringing Little Ones Along: Strollers, Prams and Family Days at the Courts
The question of stroller rules comes up for parents everywhere, whether they are planning a theme park holiday or simply heading out for an evening game. Large attractions, including Disney parks, have been known to tighten stroller size and type rules over time. Because these policies can change, the only reliable source is the park's official website, checked shortly before you travel. Closer to home, many Bengaluru parents who play pickleball face a similar everyday puzzle: how do you bring a baby or toddler along to the courts safely?
Practical tips for parents who play
- Choose a compact stroller. Courts are often tightly spaced, and a foldable, lightweight model is easier to tuck away from walkways and baselines.
- Park well clear of play. Balls travel fast and players move backwards quickly when chasing lobs. Keep strollers outside the fenced playing area or well behind spectator lines.
- Plan around the weather. Bengaluru afternoons can be warm and the monsoon brings sudden showers. A sunshade, rain cover and water are worth packing, and early morning or evening sessions tend to be more comfortable for little ones.
- Take turns. Many couples and friends rotate, with one person playing while another watches the children. Doubles formats suit this well.
- Ask about facilities first. Not every venue has shaded seating, changing space or easy ramp access. Our courts and venues pages are a good starting point, but it is always sensible to confirm details with the venue directly.
Making pickleball family-friendly
Pickleball is one of the most approachable racquet sports for mixed ages, which is why so many families take it up together. Social sessions and casual open play are usually more relaxed about children on the sidelines than competitive league nights, where focus and space matter more. If you are a new parent getting back into the game, a gentle social session is an easy way to rebuild fitness and confidence. Keep an eye on our events listings for community gatherings that suit families, and respect any venue rules on strollers, pets or spectators so everyone can enjoy the courts safely.
